Dzesika Devic

Dzesika Devic is a Canada-based, self taught photographer. Her hometown is Kitchener, ON which is where she obtained her first digital camera in 2006. She originally received the camera as a gift from a friend in order to further her interest in drawing. However, soon after receiving the camera, she quickly forgot all about drawing and became carried away with taking pictures. Her interest began in photographing electrical sockets and wires that were prevalent in her parent’s home, self portraits, friends and family. Shortly after, she received her first film camera, a Canon AE-1, from a family friend. Unbeknownst to her, acquiring this camera was pivotal in the next phase of picture taking. She often sees herself as stumbling into photography, as it was other people who gifted her cameras in the beginning. From then on, she shot strictly film until 2011, and continues to shoot a mix of film and digital until today.
