Elizabeth Lenny is sculptor and designer based in Toronto, ON. Elizabeth received her Master’s of Architecture from the University of Waterloo in 2020. Although trained in architecture, she prefers smaller scale projects that allow for fabrication and design to happen simultaneously. She strongly believes that form is the result of correspondence between the material and maker. Form is the documentation of her hand and body interacting with the material over time. Fabrication has become an integral part of her design process, rather than a means to an end.
Soft Rocks is an ongoing series of functional art objects. Their sculptural forms are inspired by the natural variation in the material and the inconsistency of the hand that forms them. The patterns and colours of the stone do not reveal themselves until polished. Their rough exterior hides their beauty beneath. Due to the variation of the material and the hand made mode of production each piece is unique, no two the same.
