Emily MacLennan

Emily MacLennan is a painter and designer based in Toronto. Originally from Nova Scotia and a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Emily moved to Toronto in 2006, settling in the neighbourhood of Little Portugal.

“My paintings examine how everyday places can sit in our hearts. Careful consideration in composing and rendering the work, allows for a new level of discovery and creates familiarity — gradually, the ordinary becomes important.”

Emily’s work is held in private collections in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and in the City of Toronto’s permanent collection as the recipient of the Mayor’s Purchase Award at the 2022 Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.
