We sat down to chat with the incredibly stylish Melina about her dream home style, statment art pieces, the personal side of art making, and her favourite smell, Mom :)

Melina is a secondhand content creator, homebody & avid thrifter. Currently living in Toronto, ON trying to figure out what her best motivator is.

Q:

Thank you so much for taking the time to go through our collection. Can you tell us a bit about why you chose these works?

A:

I chose pieces that I’d either love in my home, I resonated with, or I wish I had created myself.

Q:

What is your first or fondest art memory?

A:

Hmm, my step father used to draw these caricatures and I remember always trying to copy them. He taught me how to draw 3D/bubble letters that I still use to this day. Something about this memory made me feel closer to him, the fact we enjoyed this small practice together.

Q:

Describe your home style in 3 words.

A:

Unfinished, lacking, random (my current home style)

Bright, spacious, vintage (my dream home style)

Q:

Bucket list piece of art you want to see IRL

A:

Hmm, I’d have to do some research to get specific but it would be outdoor spaces, installations & interior design. I would want my whole self to be surrounded by it, not in front of me (if that makes sense) - preferably be able to stay/sleep in the space and indulge in the work it took to build and create it.

Q:

Gallery Wall or statement piece?

A:

Statement piece.

_

Q:

Gold or silver?

A:

Mixed metals.

_

Q:

What is one of your favourite smells?

A:

My mom.

_

Q:

What would you ask your 80 year old self?

A:

Are we as carefree as we thought we’d be?

Do we regret the things we didn’t want to regret?

Are we in the home we always wanted to be in?

Did we find out what our creative outlet is?

When did we start to really not give a fuck?

Are we happy?
