The queenston formation is a geological formation of upper ordovician age (over 445 million years old) which outcrops in Ontario. The pigment for this painting was sourced along the banks of the Credit River which has been exposed due to fluctuating water tables and erosion caused by industrialization over the past 150 years. The rock pigment is then ground and incorporated into an acrylic medium which form takes that of a subtle yet contemplative grid structure laid out across semi transparent vintage chiffon. Balancing the opaque with the transparent, when in direct light this piece will produce shadowing against walls surfaces which moves as you move around the painting.
